Social media marketing is an essential tool for any business. Sites such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are among the most popular sites regularly visited on the internet and can generate large numbers of visitors and new sales leads.

Many businesses are already utilizing social media marketing as part of their ongoing business strategy, but a large percentage of these are not aware of the essentials required to fully maximize social media to its full potential.

Here are 5 important criteria that need to be addressed in order to run a successful social media campaign.

1. Search Engine Rank Awareness

Social media profiles now make regular appearances in search engine listings. The major search engines are placing greater importance on these profiles as they tend to possess regularly updated topical content and provide quality information that search engine users are looking for.

Any social media profile should be created with search engine placement in mind. Ensure that relevant keywords are placed in titles, and content, and that any links use keywords (located within the anchor text). Brand names should be clearly visible to augment the likelihood of search engines displaying a social media profile for brand-related search queries.

Using Alt Tags Are Essential To Your SEO Traffic

When you’re trying to create effective page content that will appeal to both human visitors and search engine spiders, you need to get the most out of every page element. One way to do this is to use ALT and TITLE attributes wherever you can. They increase your site’s usability level and promotion possibilities if you clearly understand where to put them, when to use them, and why.

In contrast, you can use the TITLE attribute for just about any page element, but it isn’t required for any page element. Use it to describe links, tables, individual table rows, and other structural HTML elements. They’re more versatile than the ALT attribute and many search engine ranking algorithms read the text in TITLE attributes as regular page content.

Consider the benefits of good ALT and TITLE text:

* Provide valuable information to all your visitors with descriptive link titles and descriptive text about other page elements.
* Increase your page’s keyword density score and relevancy for your targeted keywords.

What is important here is that each image on your web site contains a unique Alt Tag or “alt attribute”. The keywords used should describe the image perfectly. Try to be as specific as possible.

And last, one of the most overlooked and simplest to change image alt attribute that could make a big difference is the logo image on your website’s home page. Many of us have an image as our logo, and you might be able to change it so the image alt attribute includes your main keyword phrase. Just don’t over do it buy “keyword stuffing” your image alt tags.
